Doctor Who fic: She Loves You

Title: She Loves You
Rating: G
Pairing: Doctor/Rose
Notes: This is working on the idea that someone came up with a bit back that what if, in the first episode, time passed on the Doctor's side before he came back to add that the TARDIS travels in time.
Warning: Shameless Britpop reference inside.


For a split second, it looked like she’d go with him – but then she shook her head and her arm brushed against the boy beside her.

The fizzy explosion of emotions that was usually bubbling around in the Doctor’s stomach died down suddenly, replaced by a solid, sinking stone.

Well, you can’t win them all.

He headed back into the TARDIS.


You know, it’s funny how much of a sad situation you can communicate to cavemen by only miming and making odd shapes with your hands. Suppose heartbreak’s universal.

They nodded and grunted in what the Doctor thought was quite a solemn way, and offered him the prettiest girl in the family.

It wasn’t their fault that the prettiest girl in the family could have been mistaken for a pretty wild boar.


“But in the end, she wanted to stay with this whingy little runt she has for a boyfriend,” the Doctor said, sighing.

“Go back to the bit where she was walking after you,” said Ringo.

“Why?”

“Well, it sort of …”

“It sounded like she loves you,” said John thoughtfully.

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

“Yeah,” added Paul, for good measure.


He saw world-famous leaders assassinated.

He saw one of Henry VIII’s wives – he didn’t bother to check which – have her head chopped off.

He saw Country House beat Roll With It to number one.

He even saw planets end – but he couldn’t quite get the Londoner in the pink hoodie that only cost five quid from Oxfam out of his head.

It was August 1963 that he decided to go back – ‘cause if it got to number one, well, it had to be true, didn’t it?


That fizzy explosion was working its way up into him again, winding through him when he opened the door.

“Did I mention it travels through time?”

Loved this so much. Though I think he would have found out which wife was being beheaded - in last night's ep I think it became apparent how much of a history buff he is.

This is terrific, thanks. Very funny, just love the Beatles reference (I'm such a big Beatles nerd) and the whole idea of him whinging his way across time before coming back to try again is brilliant. He's a big geek for her and I love it. :)
